“I have not failed. I’ve just found 10,000 ways that won’t work”
― Thomas A. Edison
Failure is often painful, grueling and leaves you with an after taste feeling that makes you wonder why you should bother trying again. Most of us cannot like Edison endure 10,000 ways that won’t work. We are barely able to pick up ourselves up after rejection or embarrassment.
Failing put simply is not meeting expectations. The problem is that everyone with a mind has expectations. Whether you like it or not you are failing everyday. Because its hard to meet everyone’s expectations. Especially your own. So, we might as well get used to failing and agree that its part of life such that we can put it off and start living.
What would you do if you were not afraid? Very few people would respond confidently with, “what I am doing today”. Most of us are stuck uninspired, with the reasons we give ourselves which are often excuses.
We were conditioned to move around like drones on auto-pilot. Go to school, get a job, get a mortgage or rent a place, marry someone etc. And like drones everything seems to be decided for us because we are afraid to challenge life and live it the way we would truly want.
We move around with untold stories, fantasies, dreams and goals. The next picasso is probably stuck behind a desk doing accounting. We create bucket lists that we never fullfill because we are hoping that maybe life will align itself somehow without requiring us to change. Because changing is risking failure yet 10,000 failures might be what it takes to for you but when you finally light that bulb, your story will be told for generations.
